![]() ![]() Carricante (Carricanti) has always been cultivated in the Etnean. It is a very old indigenous Etna vine, selected by the vine-growers of Viagrande (eastern mountainside). This vine is especially present on the eastern slope of Etna. Generally in the highest mountainsides where Nerello Mascalese ripened with difficulty or in the vineyards in miscellany with Nerello Mascalese and Minnella Bianca (another indigenous cultivar). On Etna this vine produces wines with low potassium content, high fixed acidity, particularly low pH (2.9/3.0) and considerable high malic acid content. |
